Travelling to Windsor

Travel by Car

Windsor is located to the west of London, it takes about 25 minutes on the M4 Motorway. Follow the signs from anywhere within London towards 'M4 and the West'. Exit the M4 at junction 6. Shortly after exiting you will cross the River Thames. Take the first slip road left just a few yards after the bridge and follow the signs to the town centre.

You can also get to Windsor via the A30. Leave London (and Heathrow) using the A30 via Staines which runs to the south of the airport and is adjacent to Terminal 4. Follow signs to Old Windsor and Windsor. You will enter Windsor across the famous Long Walk with great views of the Castle to your right.

Travel by Train

Windsor is easy to get to by train, there are two train stations, Windsor Central Station and the Windsor and Eton Riverside Station. Thames trains operate from London Paddington Station to Windsor Central Station, changing at Slough. A frequent service runs throughout the day between Slough and Windsor with connections from London Paddington.

South West Trains operate directly from London Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside Station. The journey takes approximately 55 minutes.

Travel by Bus

Windsor is accessible by a number of bus routes. Frequent services from Heathrow Airport make it a quick and easy way to get into town, with buses departing every 30 minutes. Buses from Heathrow depart from the Central Bus Station.

Travel by Taxi

The taxi rank in Windsor runs alongside the Castle. Visitors departing from Heathrow travelling to Windsor may find it expensive to get a taxi from outside the airport, so pre-book a taxi for a cheaper price.
